Centre For Inclusive Education Organizes Capacity Building Workshop for Keeping Children Safe Regional Hubs

Centre for Inclusive Education (CIE) organized a capacity building workshop, focused on child safeguarding from February 8 to 12, 2016 in Sofia. Representatives of Keeping Children Safe (KCS), Trag Foundation Serbia and Oak Foundation participated.

Workshop’s objectives were  to understand the concept of child safeguarding and how to implement the KCS Standards; to develop a common understanding of the role of a successful KCS Regional Hub; to understand the KCS-Oak Foundation process for developing/strengthening the child safeguarding policy; to develop an action plan for developing regional hubs and supporting Oak grantees and other organisations.

Participants took part in thematic modules, worked to identify strengths and weaknesses of their organisations in terms of their internal child safeguarding policy, outlined steps how it could be further developed and improved. In conclusion they underlined the need of better understanding of the need of a better internal organisational structure of work with children in order to protect the rights of children and professionals who work with them and to implement international Child Safeguarding Standards.

Centre for Inclusive Education is a Keeping Children Safe hub for Eastern Europe. Within the framework of this partnership experts from the Centre for Inclusive Education will conduct trainings to non-government organisations to implement the international Child Safeguarding Standards and to develop internal organisational policies and procedures for child protection, including monitoring and certification.
